South Ottawa Little League is a community based, volunteer run, not for profit organization.  We offer baseball programs for girls and boys from age 4 to 19. The Little League program helps children develop qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being.  Our league is committed to the development of skills, attitude and sportsmanship in players and coaches. The goal is to create a love for the game in everyone involved. We are dedicated to promoting the game by helping players succeed in learning and playing the game.

We are part of the worldwide Little League program which is governed by Little League International.  Little League Canada and Little League Ontario govern programs in Canada and in our province.  We are in District 6 Ontario.

Boundary

We welcome players from many areas including:  Canterbury, Elmvale Acres, Greenboro, Riverview, Hunt Club, Riverside South, Findlay Creek, Alta Vista, Elizabeth Park. Please check our boundary information to be sure you're in our catchment.

Players are eligible to play in South Ottawa Little League if they meet one of the following criteria:
  • The player lives within the boundaries for South Ottawa Little League
  • The player lives outside the boundaries but player or a sibling lived within the boundaries of South Ottawa during the previous season.

Age Determination
August 31 is the cut off date for determining which division players fall into.  Age categories are set by Little League International and cannot be changed. Players must play in the category according to their birthdate and may not play up or down in other divisions.  You can access an age determination chart here.

Volunteers
Because our league relies on volunteers, parents are expected to support their child's experience by volunteering in some capacity. Our board of directors is composed of parents and non-parents who spend countless hours working for the benefit of the league.

Our coaches are volunteers who put a great deal of time and energy into coaching our teams. It is considered a privilege to be involved with children in a coaching role. Training and mentoring are provided by the league and many of our coaches have played the game. Coaches will be respected and supported as they develop their skills as coaches and leaders. People interested in undertaking the privileged position coaches enjoy, should visit our coaches page.  In addition, scorekeepers, team coordinators, field prep people are much needed and appreciated.  Umpires are also highly valued in our league.  While we have numerous experienced umpires and provide training and mentoring, many umpires are new to their role and many are youth umpires. Unconditional respect is paid to our umpire crews.
Sponsors appreciated too -- many thanks to local businesses who sponsor our spring teams. Please visit our sponsorship tab to see sponsors so you can support them.

Spring House League Details
Diamonds are available beginning May 1, therefore the earliest our spring schedule begins is on that date.  We normally begin on or around that day with the exception of 19U which begins in mid-May.  The spring season finishes no later than June 30 however we normally finish sooner.  We aim to finish the regular season in mid-June followed by playoffs which we try to conclude in the third week of June.  Exceptions to this are teeball which ends mid-June, and 19U which starts mid-May and finishes in mid-August.

Practices
Practices are scheduled at the discretion of coaches in junior, senior and 19U.  Rookie has practice time built into the schedule on Mon/Wed nights.  Minor and major divisions have scheduled practice times on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings.
