Who Can Be An Umpire?

Men, Women, Boys, and Girls who are 13 years of age or older as of 1 May are eligible to apply to be a SOLL umpire. SOLL provides training and equipment. This is a great way to earn some extra money and have fun doing it.

South Ottawa Little League is particularly in need of adult umpires (18+ years). If you are an adult and would like more information, please contact the  Umpire-in-Chief.

Umpires can only work in divisions younger than their own age category.  Umpires should not umpire games in which a family member is playing.

Umpires are divided into Levels
  • Level I: Under 16 years of age or over 16 and new.
  • Level II: Over age 16 with a minimum of two years umpiring experience. Recommendation from Umpire-in-Chief also required.
  • Level III: Minimum of two years umpiring at Level II. Recommendation of District Umpire Consultant.
  • Level IV: Trained at Williamsport on recommendation of District Umpire Consultant.
  • Level V: Williamsport certified.
