Summer Ball Overview

Summer Ball in South Ottawa Little League

In addition to the general information provided on this page, BEFORE YOU REGISTER please read program specific information provided on our site under 2025 Summer Programs.  In some divisions, programs and team forming differ from springIt's important to understand the details in order to choose the best option for your child.

Players may tryout for any tier of summer ball available in their division, regardless of which tier they were aligned to in spring ball.   The only exception is Rookie Provincial where spring players will continue in that specific tier so that their development continues in the best way possible. T-Ball is not a tiered program - spring program participants can sign up for any of the summer T-Ball sessions offered.
  • To register for summer ball, players must have played in the spring program.
    • If your child did not, complete this form to indicate your interest. Non-spring players are automatically placed in the National division where tiering exists. We only accept non-spring players when we are short of players to complete a roster. If there's a spot open, you'll hear from us AFTER June 15 and generally before June 25. Summer games start after Canada Day. We will only contact you if a spot becomes available.  We are a volunteer run league - if we're short on volunteers, players with parents willing to help out are given priority.
Summer teams in all divisions, except T-ball and Rookie Provincial play in the city interlock league which unlike spring ball games are NOT scheduled on specific days and require travel to other leagues in the city.    And for players intending to tryout for all-star teams, please also refer to: Summer ball is an opportunity for spring players to continue playing baseball in July and August.  Summer ball is open to spring players. While summer ball tends to attract the more dedicated players, it is not true that it's intended just for the most skilled.

Summer Uniforms
All summer players (except T-Ball and Rookie Provincial) will receive an apparel package which is included in registration fees. Included are baseball pants, dry-fit practice jersey and socks. Hats are provided in spring ball.  Replacement hats are available through Houle Sports. Navy belts are a required part of the summer uniform and available for purchase at Houle Sports or at other retailers - returning players usually have one already.

Holidays
It is understood that summertime brings family holiday time, and we realize players are likely to be away for some games, perhaps even a couple of weeks at a time.  This should not stop you from registering.   You will be asked to indicate known/expected vacation times in the registration form to help us plan team rosters with vacations in mind.  We try to have an adequate number of players per team so that holiday absences are not problematic.  The exception to this is in the all-star divisions where players MUST be available for district, provincial and national competition dates. .
