Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSC)
Online coaching registration opens in February - visit the registration tab on our website. All new and returning coaches must register online. In the meantime, please read the below and if you need to apply for a VSC it's never too early to get that done.
Police Record Checks (Vulnerable Sector Check)
Police Record Checks - specifically Level 3 Vulnerable Sector Check -- are required from all rostered coaches. People, parent or non parents who help out from time to time at practices do not require one unless they are regularly in the dugout and/or in ongoing contact with the players.
South Ottawa requires a VSC on file from all coaches. Due to recent backlogs we will accept checks issued in 2022, 2023 and in the current year. PRCs completed for other sports organizations or employment purposes are acceptable.
Please upload a copy of your VSC to the website. Login to your coach profile to do so. Or you may send it to Dave MacDonald safetyofficer@southottawalittleleague.ca
Online PRC's - fast and convenient
PRC applications are now processed online. Go to their website at https://olbc.ottawapolice.ca/. Note you're applying for a level 3 prc - vulnerable sector. You will need to download our volunteer letter to avoid the fee - look for it under the policies/documents tab on our website. As you'll see on the police services website, it is possible that you may have to attend the Queensview Dr. location in person should fingerprinting or additional information be needed. However most prc's are completed within a day or two and sent to the applicant electronically.
