Tryout Dates & Information
2025 Summer Tryouts
Summer ball registration opens in early May for all divisions - deadlines are noted below.
Before registering for Summer ball, please read the program overview page so that you understand what options exist for your child. Also refer to the division page for your child's age group.
Parents with a child trying out for a spot on an All-Star teams are advised to visit the All-Star information page and the Tournament & District page. All-Stars MUST be available for district, provincial and where applicable national competition dates. (rookie teams do not participate in districts)
2025: Kindly note that the all-star / cdn tryout process at minor and major has been modified to incorporate scrimmages and provide additional time to asses athletes. Please take note of the dates - some are now during the week. At a minimum, athletes must attend 1 of the first 2 sessions but are strongly encouraged to be at both. The first releases happen after session 2.
Athletes with an unavoidable conflict for both of the first two sessions are to send an email to president@southottawalittleleague immediately upon learning of the problem and NO LATER than the applicable registration deadline, FULLY explaining the reason for the absence. A decision will be made on a case by case basis by the board's executive committee about whether an alternate assessment opportunity is possible. No player shall be named to a team without an appropriate assessment. The best option for all players is to attend the tryout session.
In rookie, junior and senior where there is only 1 tryout date, the same policy applies if the player cannot attend the session.
Registration for summer ball and full payment of fees is required IN ADVANCE of the tryout. If assistance is required, please contact the registrar.
