2025 Major Division

All major teams start their season on Wednesday May 7. Every team will have a pratice that day starting at 6pm. Rosters and schedules will be posted on the website under "2025 Master Schedule" during the last week in April. Hats and shirts will be handed out on the first day.  If time permits you may hear from your coach in advance, but if not you'll meet the coaches at the first session. 

If bad weather forces cancellation of a session you will receive an email from a league representative by 5pm. If you don't receive an email please proceed to the field. 

Coaches and Volunteers:
If you've offered to be involved with your child's team, rest assured you have a job - it takes a village and we need all of you.  Coaches will hear from the league as soon as we have finalized rosters which can take a least two weeks after sort outs.  We will be hosting a zoom call on Sunday May 4 for minor and major coaches to provide information and answer questions so that everyone is ready to hit the field. In the meantime, there are coaching clinics offered at the district level which have been communicated to all coaches registered in the database - if you can attend please do. 

If you've signed up to help with field preparation, scorekeeping or managing the team, please identify yourself to the coaches at the first session. Your contribution is significant and appreciated by coaches - they should be spending time with players not raking the field and sending emails.  

Info you need to know:
Some basic information about the program is mentioned below.  There is a lot of information and resources on our website, such as equipment you must supply for your child  / equipment provided by the league / rules documents etc. 

In particular, please read the details about bats if you are considering a purchase - all bats used in practice and games MUST be ones approved by Little League standards - that information is included on the site.  We suggest that parents considering a purchase NOT do so until they are sure of the details and sure of the size / weight appropriate to the player. The league provides bats so there is no need to purchase a bat.

General Program Information
Two sessions per week Monday and Wednesday. 
5:30pm warm up; 6:00pm - 8:00pm game. Practices are scheduled on Friday nights for Canadian level teams, Saturday mornings for National level teams.

Majors is a continuation of what players experienced in Minors.  The field size is the same. The rules are the same, except for the modifications in the Minor National program.

5:30pm warm up; 6:00pm - 8:00pm game. Practices are scheduled on Friday nights for all players in a clinic format at Leitrim diamonds.  Rained out games are scheduled at the discretion of the convenor and coaches.  We use various fields in our catchment including Grasshopper Hill (Kilborn Avenue), Leitrim Park (Bank at  Leitrim) and Pauline Vanier (behind General Vanier School on Harkness, off Walkley near Bank St), Sharel, Playfair, McCarthy Youth, Calzavara.

Players are streamed into two divisions  - a Canadians division and a Nationals division. This allows players to be grouped with similarly skilled players. Boys and girls playing the game for the first time as well as some players coming up from minors may feel more comfortable in the National division. Sort outs will determine where players will be aligned.  It is therefore very important that all players - new and returning- attend one of the sort out sessions.

 Player development remains the focus in both divisions. Equal playing time is mandated in the spring season and players will play all positions.
