There are three divisions for summer ball at BOTH the minor and major levels.
- An All-Star team that will participate in the District Little League playdowns and summer All-Star level interlock schedule.
- Canadian team One team that will compete in the Canadian division of summer interlock. This team will be comprised of the next strongest group of players.
- National Division. One or more teams that will compete in the National division of summer interlock.
All teams will participate in summer interlock and are provided with an apparel program. Further information is posted on the Summer Ball Overview webpage.
It must be noted that the level in which your child played spring ball (ie: Canadian A / National B) will not necessarily be the same for summer ball. It is not at all unusual that a player in the spring Canadian division may play in the summer National division. Parents must try to ensure their child understands this perspective. The reason is because there are fewer summer players, and fewer teams can be entered in each level in summer ball. Only one all-star team is permitted and generally only one Canadian level team. Any number of National teams can be formed.
Example: the spring program usually has 3-4 Canadian teams (approx 36 -48 players) and 4 National teams (approx 48 players). With only one all-star and one Canadian team (total 24 players), any numbers beyond that will be in the National program. The summer national program is often a higher calibre than the spring program, and will provide fun and development for all participants. Unfortunately, some players (and parents) place far too high a value on labels used to group players.
