Batting Cage Reservation and Rules

Batting cage information

SOLL owns a batting cage at the Canterbury 1 diamond beside Brian Kilrea Arena. It`s available for teams to book for batting practice. Only coaches and team administrators can reserve times.  It is most appropriate for players in minor and above.

2024 Notes:
The batting cage is in high demand at the start of the season, especially if we experience a lot of rain.   Please realize that more than one team should be able to use the cage on weekday evenings.   Two bookings - 5:30-7:00  and 7:00-8:30 pm are appropriate.  Coaches are asked to indicate their division/team name / coach name and cell number when booking.  You may be contacted by other coaches trying to fit in cage time, and if so please cooperate with one another.  You can find the link to the booking calendar here.

SOLL teams play games on Canterbury 1 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. During those times you will not have access to the diamond if you are using the cage. There's plenty of room for a team to use the cage while a game is underway on Canterbury 1 if each group is respectful of the other. At other times, the diamond may or may not be available to use with the cage as it is a first come, first served system.

Batting Cage booking rules:

Registered coaches and assistant coaches may use the cage.  DO NOT provide the code to parents and certainly not to any player regardless of their age.  Random people not registered as coaches or players in SOLL  may not use the cage for insurance reasons.

  • Reserve the time frame you plan to use. Please book a maximum of 1.5 hours at a time, and a maximum of two sessions per week.

  • We are using the honour system, so please do not delete another booking! If you cancel your session, please take it out of the calendar.

  • First come, first served - however we will monitor use to make sure everyone is getting an opportunity.

  • Do not allow players to operate the pitching machine, and do not allow them to access the cage without adult supervision.

When you get to the cage:

  • Use the code to open the lock box.  The key inside opens the padlock on the gate. Your convenor will provide the code to head coaches at the beginning of the season ---  if you forget the code email your convenor or Ken Gorman or Peggy Pratt

PLEASE PUT THE KEY BACK IN THE LOCK BOX AND NOT IN YOUR POCKET!

Have fun at the batting cage!
