2024 T-Ball Information

Start dates: Sat May 11, Sun May 12, Tues May 14, Thurs May 16

Final dates: Sat June 22, Sun June 23, Tues June 25, Thurs June 27

Photo Day:

Please arrive on time for your session’s start time – individual photos of each player will be taken followed by team photo.  The league provides a combo package for each player free of charge. Parents may order additional photos and other misc items such as trader cards etc at an added cost.

Each child is to have a form completed and submitted to the photographer at the shoot.

This ensures the right photos get to the right session/player.  This form can also be used to order additional photos and items. It's much faster if you complete the form and bring it with you, however the photographer will have some on hand if you forget it at home.  Here's the link:  http://www.mostvaluableplayer.ca/

If your child misses their specific date and time for their photo shoot, they can show up at any other session and the photographer will squeeze their individual photo shoot in between teams, however note that if they do not go to their specific date and time, they will not be in the team photo.

How the Program Works
T-Ball groups will have 20-25 players in each session. Players are then divided into smaller "teams" of 4-5 players.  The program format is set up into stations.  Teams progress from station to station to learn skills.  Coaches are situated at each station to help players have fun and learn the skills.

The program guide is posted on our website under the "docs, rules & policies" tab on our website.
Here are the session locations and times.

  • Saturday 9:30 am - 10:30 am - Four Seasons Park, Riverside South

  • Sunday 9:30 am - 10:30 am  Leitrim diamonds

  • Tuesday or Thursday 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm   Canterbury (beside Kilrea arena 2185 Arch Street)

  • All Girls Session: Sunday  9:30am - 10:30 - Leitrim diamonds (behind Fred Barrett arena)

  • Players can select more than one session  - for the best skill development two sessions per week is suggested where possible

  • Cost: $85.00 per program

  • Season starts second week in May and runs to the end of June.  A summer session is possible depending on interest and coaching availability.

South Ottawa is a volunteer organization. We will need parents to volunteer as convenors and coaches. Each program will require a convenor, a head coach and 4-6 assistant coaches to organize and execute the program.   Coaching at this level is not difficult.  Coaches are provided with an easy to follow  plan for each session. Coaches are encouraged to attend the spring Teaching for Tomorrow clinic, an opportunity that will be useful in T-ball and will also provide a good foundation of knowledge for progression into later divisions.

T-ball is intended to be a fun, non-competitive skills development program  Players will be exposed to the basics of baseball including hitting off a tee, catching, throwing and base running. Each session consists of fun skill development plus a short game.  Players receive a participation award at the end of the season and a photo.

The ball is hit off a tee using a soft baseball. Players run the bases and start to learn the positions.  Outs are introduced, and later in the season enforced, but do not count for inning progression. Players must have their own glove and helmet.
