Major All-Star

2024 Program

Please visit Summer Ball tryout information page for dates and times for tryout dates and for competition dates and locations.

Players hoping for a spot on the All-Star team must attend the tryout. (Canadian level hopefuls attend the same tryout).

If your child is unavoidably unable to attend, please provide a detailed explanation in writing to the
VP Competitive Ken Gorman ASAP and not less than 1 week before the tryout. If your child is injured a doctor's note is required.  Your child's best opportunity to earn a spot is to be at the tryout.

The All-Star team competes in D6 Districts in early July, and if successful will represent District 6 in the Provincial championships in Windsor in mid-July.  Success in Windsor means a trip to Kingston in early August to compete in the Canadian Championships.

In advance of trying out, parents will be asked to confirm their child's availability for District, Provincial and Canadian dates.

The team also plays in the Summer City interlock league in July & August.

Accepting a spot on the All-Star team means you'll be playing lots of baseball, especially in the lead up to districts. Nevertheless the league understands that despite the significant commitment involved, it must also be reasonable.  To be on a diamond nearly every day for most of the summer would be unreasonable and not positive for any young player.

The following information is provided to give parents key dates and a sense of the commitment level.  Families with unavoidable conflicts, or with specific questions can contact VP Competitive Ken Gorman or  President Peggy Pratt   or Head Coach Jeff Gordon

After the team is formed in late May / early June, tournaments and practices will be held to start preparation for district competition.   In addition there will be 1-2 practices per week.  Once spring ball finishes at the end of June, the all-star team will start playing in the summer interlock league after Canada Day. (2 games per week).  Interlock games are suspended when the team is in districts, and during the lead up to provincials.

Districts / Provincials Schedules
Start dates for districts etc are posted on the website.  End dates depend on how many leagues enter a team. If not all 4 D6 leagues enter a team the date range may be shortened.  Rain delays could extend it.  The format is usually double elimination at major. The schedule will be available in lJune. Teams can play on any day of the week, including two days in a row as well as during the day should two games be necessary in one day.

Please visit the "All-Star - District / Provincial Dates & Information" page for dates.
